Hi, I am Rob Fellows. In 2011, I formed Parent Care Consulting to offer my experience and interest in parent care to others facing the significant personal challenges of aging parents. I provide education, guidance, and coaching about parent care for the benefit of the elder’s children, spouses, and family. I am the principal coach.

It is a Personal Journey

I have experienced firsthand the aging of both my parents and in-law parents. I have witnessed the passing of all of these parents. This direct experience has taught me about the everyday aspects of parent care and elder advocacy. Through my experience and work with many clients and their families, I also have learned much about the profound nature of the end-of-life journey and the very personal experience for adult children and the extended family of aging parents.

I find the care for one’s aging parents -no matter how it transpires, or how difficult it gets— to be an experience that touches both one’s formative material and one’s greatest depths of being. I feel a calling to share my knowledge, advice, and guidance to support others to find and navigate these depths.

I focus on the adult children and families as their experiences are often not given enough time or consideration by themselves or others supporting their parents. These experiences are not often shared or understood. Rightly so, everyone is focused on the parent’s experience and one’s own experience must be addressed elsewhere, or at another time, if examined at all. Yet, these caregivers are often called upon to give the most emotional support, most important witnessing, and to make the most difficult decisions. It is time that the care and experience of those engaged so deeply be brought into focus and they have support for their journey.

Broad Background for Supporting You

I have extensive training and education to support my coaching including literacy in financial, social, relational, and health issues that often arise. With an MA in Counseling Psychology and years training and experience supporting others seeking healing, I bring a compassionate and protective presence to support your journey. Analytical psychology and the concept of “individuation” set an important frame for me in this work. I see parental decline and loss, not as a distraction, burden, or suspension of engagement in life, but rather an important transit in one’s life arc –from which growth and change are inevitable. Likewise, my training as an Integral Coach brings the practice and skills development that can provide you the means to continue to manage and grow long after this part of the journey is over.

In addition to my counseling experience, I hold an MBA and have many years of experience in technology and business consulting in Silicon Valley. This background helps me to provide an organized, systematic, and practical approach to dealing with the many different issues that arise in caring for the elderly. I have experience and training in grief counseling, communications skills development, and family facilitation. I also have previously held (expired 2020) a credential as a Certified Senior Adviser (CSA).  This is nationally recognized and testing verified credential that aims to assure a depth of understanding of senior’s issues and the resources to address them.
